If you do not have the current version of one of the above listed browsers, the online form you are completing may not submit properly. You can download, at no cost, an updated browser from Microsoft (Internet Explorer), Mozilla.org (Mozilla Firefox), Netscape (Netscape Browser), Opera Software (Opera) or Apple (Safari).
All of the forms on OTIP Services are posted as pdf files. You will require a copy of Adobe Reader to access these files. Download your free copy.
Computer viruses have become a large part of the Internet over the last few years. The latest viruses plaguing the Internet are mass-mailing worms that arrive as an e-mail attachment with the file extension .bat, .cmd, .exe, .pif, .scr or .zip. If this attachment is opened, the virus will pick two e-mail addresses from the computer's address book and place one in the 'To:' field and the other in the 'From:' field of a new e-mail and then sends it automatically. This is why you may be receiving e-mails stating you sent the virus to someone (this is called spoofing).
Common sense is still the best defense. The most common viruses come from people you actually know. These people do not usually have virus protection software and do not know they are infected. The virus will send itself out to everyone in their address book. Follow these basic rules to avoid becoming a victim of a virus.
- Have anti-virus software installed on your computer and check for updates daily
- Do not open any attachments from people you do not know
- Do not open any attachments from people you know that you are not expecting
- The most common viruses come in the form of an attachment with an extension that looks like .exe, .bat, .scr, .vbs, .zip
If you are unsure about an e-mail you can also visit a site like Symantec Avcenter to view the latest threats and hoaxes. The address is: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/.
