Important Information on Travel to Cuba
Effective May 1, 2010, all visitors travelling to Cuba will require proof of out-of-country travel health insurance upon landing. If visitors do not hold insurance from an approved carrier/assistance provider at the point of entry into Cuba, they will be required to purchase insurance for the duration of their stay.
The travel insurance coverage included in OTIP/RTIP health insurance plans is provided through Mondial Assistance, formerly known as World Access Canada. Mondial Assistance has a contractual agreement with the Cuban assistance program, ASISTUR, and as such is a recognized third-party assistance provider.
While the Cuban government has yet to confirm a specific list of recognized carriers, or the specific documentation requirements for proof of insurance, you are encouraged to take a copy of your OTIP benefits card containing the Mondial plan information with you along with
this letter issued by Mondial confirming your eligibility.
